3b feature-positive effect

Studied by Allison and Messick 1988; Newman, Wolff, and Hearst 1980; Sainsbury 1971. Similar to confirmation bias, it is the effect of overstating the importance of something that we can see easily. In the analysis I do at work, we might get a particular result and we can convince ourselves that the reason for this result is due to a certain phenomenon that we can also easily observe. To overcome this, we need to establish a system to keep track of all the possible effects beyond what comes to us naturally so it can be objectively assessed
